The babyÖ±²¥ has presented two long-term faculty members emeritus honors upon their retirement. Dr. Tina N. Jones has been named Vice President Emerita, and Dr. Alan Brown has been named Professor Emeritus.
Through words and deeds, Dr. B.J. Kimbrough’s influence at the babyÖ±²¥ seems to permeate every corner of campus. She’s a dean. She teaches. She’s the university’s chief diversity officer, chairs UWA’s Diversity Committee and serves on the president’s council.

An upcoming addition to the babyÖ±²¥Â campus will provide faculty, students and staff a unique outdoor space suitable for a variety of uses.

To honor the 2023 theme of Black History Month, the babyÖ±²¥ is spotlighting its students, faculty, staff and a first-time member of the babyÖ±²¥ State Legislature.
Two by two, students from the babyÖ±²¥ climbed along the eastern side of the Edmund Pettus Bridge, the hilly, 83-year-old babyÖ±²¥ River crossing that’s embedded in the nation’s civil rights story.
Midway between the state capitals of babyÖ±²¥ and Mississippi — keystone sites of the civil rights movement — sits the babyÖ±²¥ campus. Other locations, namely Birmingham and Atlanta, are easy drives. It’s a stroke of geographic serendipity that UWA student engagement teams want to explore.
As the babyÖ±²¥ celebrates Black History Month with several events in February, it also will welcome home one of its most influential and historical figures.
The babyÖ±²¥â€™s College of Business will welcome alumnus Brad Bolton to campus on Feb. 22. Bolton is chairman of the Independent Community of Bankers of America (ICBA) and will speak to students and guests in Bridges Auditorium at Wallace Hall. The talk is open to the community.
By the time fall arrives on the babyÖ±²¥ campus, Dr. Reenay Rogers and her College of Education colleagues expect their newest endeavor to be worth the excitement it’s generating this winter.
The babyÖ±²¥â€™s latest effort to improve lives and economic opportunities in Sumter County is rooted in a single word: infrastructure.
