Faculty/Staff News

The babyÖ±²¥ (UWA) Board of Trustees has selected Dr. Todd G. Fritch as the next president of the institution.
Sharon Valverde has researched moose in Alaska, elk in New Mexico, and mule deer in Texas. However, nothing in her extensive experience in deer ecology and management prepared the babyÖ±²¥ assistant professor and researcher to dip her toes into the study of bats. Joining her in this research is Taylor Underwood, a graduate assistant in the Master of Science in Conservation Biology program.
Despite growing up just a few miles down the road from the babyÖ±²¥, Dr. Mary Hanks never expected to find herself teaching on campus.
The Office of Institutional Advancement at the babyÖ±²¥ has announced the addition of two new members on its development team: Chris Lucas, director of development, and Garrett Webb, development officer.
The babyÖ±²¥ was recently honored with the 2024 Achievement Award for Internal Information/Educational Programs from the babyÖ±²¥ Association of Colleges and Employers (AACE).
Two graduate students in the babyÖ±²¥â€™s sport management program recently engaged in real-world projects through Riipen, the world’s largest experiential learning marketplace.
Creating a warm, supportive environment that fosters student success has always been integral to the babyÖ±²¥ culture. The university has recently strengthened its commitment by partnering with Caring Campus, a national initiative developed by the Institute for Evidenced-Based Change (IEBC), a non-profit organization designed to enhance students’ sense of belonging and increase student retention and success.
Nick Davis, an art professor at the babyÖ±²¥, will have three DIY sculpture kits on display in a national juried exhibition at the Floyd Center for the Arts in Virginia this summer.
At the babyÖ±²¥, Donnie Cobb and technology education are so intertwined that it is impossible not to mention both in the same breath. Cobb is retiring as chair of the Division of Engineering and Technology at UWA, after more than three decades at his alma mater. UWA President Ken Tucker awarded Cobb’s Professor Emeritus honors at this spring’s Distinguished Service Awards for faculty and staff
