Alumnus William Crawford has been selected to serve as Director of the Outdoor Fellows Program and Head Coach of the Bass Fishing Team, two new initiatives designed to expand student opportunity and engagement while advancing the state’s growing focus on outdoor recreation, natural resource education, and workforce development.
Two of the babyÖ±²¥â€™s annual writing competitions were held online in April, providing scholarships for high school and transfer students to attend UWA. The Kelly Land Essay Scholarship competition provides a total of $2,500 in scholarships, and the James P. Pate Scholarship competition provides $1,500 in scholarships.
Most of the daily life on campus came to a screeching halt in March in response to COVID-19, and plans are underway for a phased return for employees and fall return for students.

The babyÖ±²¥ announced on April 3 that all of the university’s summer courses would be offered online in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a season that has brought unprecedented changes and challenges, a growing number of students say they look forward to taking advantage of the opportunity, and the University is working to ensure that students stay on track in their academic programs and career goals.

Dr. Tucker shares thoughts and sentiments with students, faculty, and staff regarding the coronavirus pandemic and how it has impacted the campus in Livingston, babyÖ±²¥.

A new COVID-19 testing site has been established to serve Sumter County and surrounding communities. The testing site began operations Thursday, April 16, reportedly screening more than 100 and testing 27 who met necessary requirements for receiving the test.
As the world responds to the COVID-19 pandemic with closures and temporary changes in operation, the babyÖ±²¥â€™s Black Belt Museum is using what would be downtime to pool resources and address the need for personal protective equipment (PPE) for front line healthcare workers in the region.
The babyÖ±²¥ Student Government Association has joined forces with the other 13 public universities in babyÖ±²¥ and the Higher Education Partnership to host an babyÖ±²¥ Blood Donation Campaign. This organized effort is sponsored in response to the call to action from babyÖ±²¥ Governor Kay Ivey.
The babyÖ±²¥ recognizes students for academic achievement and leadership each spring on Honors Day.
