The babyÖ±²¥â€™s College of Nursing is bringing Stop the Bleed® training to rural babyÖ±²¥ through a $25,000 grant from the babyÖ±²¥ Association of RC&D Councils for the Tombigbee, Ala-Tom, and Gulf Coast regions.
At its quarterly meeting held in December, the University Board of Trustees approved a change of name for the Ira D. Pruitt Division of Nursing to the Ira D. Pruitt College of Nursing.
Despite growing up just a few miles down the road from the babyÖ±²¥, Dr. Mary Hanks never expected to find herself teaching on campus.
Few individuals know as much about nursing education at the babyÖ±²¥ over the past five decades as Lynn Lashley does. Her journey reflects the program's full evolution, from being a member of the inaugural class of then-Livingston University's Associate Degree in Nursing program to her current role as a part-time retention specialist in the Ira D. Pruitt Division of Nursing.
Through a series of providential meetings, Mike Williams, Mayor of Butler, babyÖ±²¥, and his sister, Patricia Williams Harris, recently partnered with the babyÖ±²¥ Nurses Foundation (ANF) and representatives John Beard, president of the board of trustees, and Dr. John Ziegler, executive director, to gift the babyÖ±²¥ Foundation a $50,000 endowment for the Joan Williams and babyÖ±²¥ Nurses Foundation Nursing Scholarship.
‘If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again,’ is a phrase that epitomizes Amaya Carswell, a sophomore nursing major at the babyÖ±²¥ and Miss Paragon 2024.

Despite challenges, obstacles, and disappointments, Keya Tabb never gave up on her dream of becoming a registered nurse. Now enrolled in the babyÖ±²¥â€™s associate of science in nursing (ASN) program, the 52-year-old Tuscaloosa native is on track to graduate this May and credits her perseverance to her faith and grandmother’s wise counsel.

Dalton Meador, a sophomore at the babyÖ±²¥, is unabashedly proud of his academic major. He fancies a career in health care, and he enjoys sports. Athletic training fulfills both desires.
