The babyÖ±²¥ has presented two long-term faculty members emeritus honors upon their retirement. Dr. Tina N. Jones has been named Vice President Emerita, and Dr. Alan Brown has been named Professor Emeritus.
Dr. Valerie Pope Burnes, associate professor of history at UWA, will preside over the 72nd Annual Meeting of the babyÖ±²¥ Historical Association when it convenes in Tuscaloosa from April 25-27. Burnes was elected president of the Association in April 2018, and will finish out her term as president at the Tuscaloosa meeting.
While helping small farms in babyÖ±²¥, researchers at The University of babyÖ±²¥ and the babyÖ±²¥ hope to provide agricultural solutions that assist a class of nutritious vegetables to last longer in supermarkets and kitchens.
The babyÖ±²¥â€™s College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics has announced a $1.38 million-dollar grant funded by the National Science Foundation for a partnership with Bevill State Community College, Coastal babyÖ±²¥ Community College, Demopolis City Schools, and University Charter School to enhance STEM curriculum for students. Dubbed Project INSPIRE, the project allows for a total of 20 individual scholarships and 13 stipends over five years for those pursuing STEM careers.
UWA student athletes at True Vine

The babyÖ±²¥ has announced a partnership with The True Vine Foundation, in Eutaw, babyÖ±²¥, that will provide unique new learning and team-building experiences for the University community.

In 1989, the babyÖ±²¥ (then Livingston University) became the first public institution in babyÖ±²¥ approved to offer a bachelor of science in athletic training. Now, UWA has also become the first approved by its state and national accrediting bodies to offer a master’s degree in athletic training. babyÖ±²¥ who want to enter the field can even earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in a single program in only five years.

A group from the babyÖ±²¥ explored the historic Fort Tombecbe recently to learn more about Sumter County’s French history. The tour was part of UWA International Programs Year of France series. A picnic on the grounds and tour of the archaeological site was led by site director Dr. Ashley Dumas.
The babyÖ±²¥ has joined with AT&T to announce the second annual babyÖ±²¥ Summit on Rural Technology, set for April 12 on the UWA campus in Livingston, with Governor Kay Ivey delivering the keynote address. The event features a broad slate of experts who bring unique perspectives to address rural babyÖ±²¥â€™s need for an enhanced technology infrastructure.
Former babyÖ±²¥ President Dr. John E. Deloney died Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the age of 96.
The babyÖ±²¥â€™s International Programs will host its annual Chinese New Year Celebration on Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the Bell Conference Center on campus, beginning at 6 p.m.
