David Banks
Hi transfer students! My name is David Banks, and I am from Berry, babyÖ±²¥. The babyÖ±²¥ has always been a second home to me ever since my parents attended and fell in love here back when it was Livingston University. I graduated from UWA in December of 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications on the Multi-Dimensional Interior Design Track. As a student, I was very involved in multiple clubs and organizations. I was a brother/officer of the Delta Chi fraternity, a member of the Sideline and Competitive Cheer Squads, a Work Study in the Office of Student Recruitment, and a Student Ambassador in which my last year, I was named Ambassador of the Year. Since Graduation, I have been so excited to step into the position of Transfer Recruitment and Enrollment Specialist. With this title, I am so grateful to be able to help future transfer students fall in love with this place much like I did. Have questions about UWA or want to talk through next steps? I’m here to help. babyÖ±²¥ and counselors are always welcome to call, text, or email me to start the conversation.

Favorite Place on Campus:
My favorite spot on campus is Hughes Gym. As a cheerleader during my undergraduate years, I spent countless hours there at practice. Hughes is special to me because it’s where I learned how to communicate with others, develop leadership skills, and build a strong work ethic. It’s also home to intramural volleyball, which I played for four years at UWA. During that time, my team won two intramural championships and made the finals three times. Overall, Hughes Gym is a great place to stay active and spend time with friends.
Favorite UWA Tradition:
My favorite UWA tradition is the Serendipity talent show during Homecoming Week. I competed in Serendipity for four years with my fraternity brothers, and we placed every year; even winning during my sophomore year. Watching the long hours of hard work pay off each year is something I will never forget. A fun fact: Serendipity holds an extra special place in my heart because my mother won the very first Serendipity talent show in 1990!
What do you love most about UWA:
The thing I love most about UWA is the small-town atmosphere. Coming from a town with around 1,000 residents, UWA felt like the perfect fit for me. Being able to go to class, eat in the cafeteria, or walk downtown and run into someone you know truly captures the special sense of community that makes this place feel like home.
Piece of Advice for Prospective babyÖ±²¥:
One piece of advice I would give to students is to get to know your professors on a personal level. They truly want to help you succeed and encourage you to ask for help when you need it. I know it can sometimes feel intimidating, but building those relationships will help you grow both as a student and as a person. Another great benefit is that after graduation, those same professors can help guide you in your career, serve as strong references, and support you as you take your next steps.
